The Statement: “Issues of Tawheed can be learnt in the time span of Ten Minutes” – Clarified by Shaykh Abdus Salam Al-Barjis

He went on to say, unfortunately the people today, the people from the Muslims they do not pay attention to the impotance of tawheed and many people consider it to be from the affairs that should be say go secondary. He says this tawheed is not studies and not understood by the Muslims as it ought to be. He gives an example of a person who had the audacity to make the statement that the issues of tawheed can be learnt in the time span of ten minutes.

He went on to say, this is a sad case when we see that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) was a person who sat in Mekkah and he called the people to tawheed for ten years and he made jihad to establish this tawheed in their hearts. Here you have a person who says tawheed can be learnt in ten minutes and the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) sat and taught it and fought for it was harmed for ten years. The Shaikh asked a question Why would a person make such a statement such as that. He said this man the person who made this statement is a person who Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aalaa) has not blessed with a lot of knowledge, nor is he a person who has understood the importance what is primary and what is secondary as relates to this dawah. if this person or anyone was to concentrate on this statement that was said no doubt he would see the danger and it is a statement that every Muslim should stay away from and be weary of. This tawheed ikhwaan will save you, it will save you in this life and in the next life and this tawheed is the Islaam that Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aalaa) wants for his servants. The person who falls into it (shirk)  ikhwaan is committing the terrible crime that he should be aware of and try to stay away from.

The Shaikh finished ikhwaan by saying when he tells us about the importance of learning about at-tawheed and knowing about this tawheed, he said he does not mean by that statement or with that statement that we should learn about the khilaafat (differences) that have been mentioned about the ulema concerning this tawheed. If you were to look at the books of tawheed you would find that there are a lot of differences that the ulema of the past and the present have discussed. This is not what I intend when I say to you brothers we need to know about this tawheed. But what I mean is that you need to understand all those things Allah (subhaanahu wa ta’aalaa) has made obligatory on you as it relates to you making your worship for Allah (subhanna wa ta’ala) and you making this ibaadah.

Does commiting Shirk out of ignorance take one out of Islam? Shaykh Abdus Salaam al-Burjis

Question:

The greatest shirk can take you out of the fold of Islaam but what if due to ignorance this is all that you know to be Islaam?

Answer:

He said concerning the person who commits shirk al akbar based upon ignorance or because of it the person falls into this we have to look at what it is that he committed. We have to look at the crime he committed.

He said if we find this shirk al akbar that he fell into and that he committed are from the things that are clear and apparent to all the people of al Islaam then he will have no excuse, his ignorance will not be an excuse for him. If he did something all the people of al Islaam know to be shirk, for example, for a person to make prostration to an idol so he would not have an excuse of ignorance.

But if the person does something, that the majority of the people do not know about this thing, the majority of the people are not experts in understanding this affair this situation is different, he may be excused because of his ignorance.

He said all we have to do is look at the issue of the sahabas what happened when some of them made halaal the drinking of wine. When these sahabas made halaal the drinking of kamar they did so based upon some of the ayat of the Qur’an that they understood. So the other sahaba what they did was that they did not say that they were kuffar but instead they sent to them the proofs to show them that kamar was haram. When these proofs arrived to them, they accepted them and they came back to the truth and they left of that which they were doing. The shaikh said had they continued to be obstinate and the proof had come to them and they would have rejected the proofs, then they would have become kuffar because they would have been disbelieving in Allah (subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa) and his Messenger (sallAllaahu alaihi wasalam).

So the issue of being excused or having an excuse because of ignorance it becomes different depending upon the time, the place, the person and the condition.

No excuses are accepted regarding the Fundamentals of Tawhid

Q: Can a person be excused for their ignorance regarding the fundamentals of Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah) which represent the core of Din (religion)? What is the ruling on judging specific people as being Kafirs (disbelievers) for indulging in practices of Shirk (associating others with Allah in His Divinity or worship) out of their ignorance?

A: No person can be excused for their ignorance regarding issues of Tawhid so long as they live amongst Muslims. However, whoever lives far away from Muslim areas and is ignorant of Islam, they will be judged by Allah (Glorified be He). They will be dealt with in the same way as Ahl-ul-Fatrah (people having no access to Divine Messages) on the Day of Resurrection i.e. they will be tested there and judged accordingly.

On the other hand, whoever lives amongst Muslims and hears the Word of Allah and His Messenger without adhering to them but instead worships the graves and seeks their help or insults Din, such people are Kafirs (disbelievers). Muslim authorities have to ask such people to repent and if they do not, they have to be killed for their Kufr (disbelief).

The same applies to whoever mocks the Din, considers Halal (lawful) things that Allah declares as being Haram (prohibited) such as Zina (sexual intercourse outside marriage), Khamr (intoxicant), applying positive law, judging by laws other than what Allah has revealed, or claiming that such laws are better than the laws which are set by Allah. Declaring any of the foregoing as Halal is tantamount to committing Riddah (apostasy), we seek refuge with Allah from this. It is thus Wajib (obligatory) on every Islamic government to apply Shari`ah (Islamic law), to advise whoever indulges in any of the practices which revoke their Islam to make Tawbah (repentance to Allah), and to kill them if they refuse to give up their Kufr.

Proof for this is the Hadith in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever (a Muslim) discards their Din, kill them. (Related by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih (authentic) Book of Hadiths). Moreover, it is reported in the Two Sahih Books of Hadith (i.e. Al-Bukhari and Muslim) on the authority of Mu`adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he ordered some rulers to kill the apostates if they do not make Tawbah. Mu`adh said: ‘This is the judgment of Allah and His Messenger’.

However, such a judgment has to be applied by the Muslim ruler and through the Shar`y (Islamic legal) courts. This is to ensure that the ruling of Allah is implemented on the basis of true knowledge and insight of Muslim authorities. May Allah set right the affairs of us all. Verily, Allah is the All Hearer, the Most Near.

Husband request wife to stay up late at night…

Question: My husband requests that I stay up late at night with him but I refuse because I want to pray the night prayer, so I sleep early. Is this (refusal of mine) disobedience to the husband?

Answer: It is incumbent upon you to obey your husband in good. If he calls you to stay up late and you will definitely fail to perform the fajr salaah at its fixed time or (he calls you to stay up late) to watch what is evil, then you do not obey him. As for other than this then it is obligatory to obey him even if the night prayer is missed, because it is an (optional) Sunnah and obedience to a husband is obligatory. And to Allaah belongs all bestowal (of guidance and ability to perform good deeds). وصلى الله على نبينا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم

When I go to propose a young woman for marriage…

Question: When I go to propose a young woman for marriage, how should i speak to her in order to know her Aqeedah, fear of Allaah, manners and etiquettes?

Answer: It is permissible for the proposer to have a look at the one he is proposing but not in seclusion, because the Sunnah has confirmed that from the Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam). And he can ask her and her guardians what he holds important in relation to a beneficial marriage.

What would he do about the frequent thoughts which (he thinks) do not please Allaahu Ta’aalaa – Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan

Answered by Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan

The questioner asks:

My thoughts often come to me in the things that are displeasing to Allaah and i always reproach myself from these thoughts and i say to myself this is from shaytaan, are the mankind accountable with it?

Shaykh Saleh Fawzaan says:

No, mankind is not accountable with it, (the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said) “My nation is forgiven for their mistakes and forgetfulness and the things that occur in their minds which they do not talk about or do” your state of hating to talk about it and stating it, this is a sign of faith and you should seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of shaytaan the accursed and you also have to reject those thoughts and avoid its interaction….Yes

Feeling drops of urine during Salah

Q: The following inquiry is posed by a sister from Riyadh wherein she says: I am eighteen years old. For two years now, it happens that whenever I start performing Salah (Prayer), I feel as if urine comes out. Such a case continues with me often. Appreciate your guidance!

A: This feeling renders neither Wudu’ (ablution) nor Salah invalid, because this is just Satanic insinuations. Consequently, your Salah is valid and such insinuations do not harm you except if you are sure that you have discharged urine.

(Part No. 10Page No. 131)

If you are sure of that, you are obliged to perform Istinja’ (cleansing the private parts with water after urination or defecation), Wudu’, and Salah again after washing what have afflicted your body and clothes of urine. Illusions and insinuations, on the other hand, should not attract the least of your attention, and your Salah is valid.

You should beware of such insinuations and should busy yourself with performing Salah properly and with Khushu` (the heart being submissively attuned to the act of worship). You should keep away from such insinuations in order for them not to haunt you.

Ruling on Wudu’ for a woman having vaginal discharge

Your Eminence Shaykh `Abdul-`Aziz ibn `Abdullah ibn Baz, may Allah safeguard you against all evils and forgive you, your parents, and all Muslims, Amen.

We are a group of women suffering from vaginal discharge. Our question is: Are we obliged to perform Wudu’ (ablution) for every Salah (Prayer), knowing that this can be hard for us to do? Please, guide us, may Allah reward you!

(Part No. 10Page No. 130)

A: Wa `alaykum as-salam warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah’s Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!)

If the mentioned vaginal discharge is often continuous, then every woman suffering from such vaginal discharge is obliged to perform Wudu’ for every Salah at its due time, the same as a woman in Istihadah (abnormal vaginal bleeding outside the menstrual or post-partum period) and a person suffering from urinary incontinence. But if such vaginal discharge happens sometimes – not continual – the ruling then is the same as urine, that is, whenever it happens it nullifies Wudu’, even during performing Salah.

May Allah guide us all to what pleases Him! May Allah grant you and us recovery from every illness, He is All-Hearing and Ever-Near.

As-salamu `Alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh!

Discovering semen on the clothing after prayer- Shaykh al-Uthaymeen

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih Al-’Uthaimeen (rahimahullah) was asked:

If a person prayed then discovered semen in his clothes afterwards. What is the obligation upon him?  The Shaykh answered:

If the person found a spot of semen in his clothes after praying and he was not sure if it was from last night or the night before then let him assume that it is from last night or last time he slept because that is is the certainty and what was before is doubtful.

So for example if this person has prayed Fajr and stayed awake afterwards then discovered semen in his clothes he should take ghusl then repeat the prayer because it is certain that this semen was there before the prayer.

But if he has slept after the Fajr then woke up and discovered semen in his clothes he does not have to repeat the prayer because the origin in such case is the semen was after the prayer.

And having doubt in breaking ablution does not necessitate purifying ones self based on the hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurairah Allah is pleased with that the messenger of Allah peace is upon him said “If one of you detected something in his stomach and he was not sure if something came out of his stomach or not then let him not leave the Masjid” Sahih Muslim.

Is it permissible to make up the regular sunan beyond their time.. Shaykh Ibn Baaz

The ‘Al-llaamah Abdul-Azeez bin Abdil-llaah bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) was asked:

Is it permissible to make up the regular sunan beyond their time or they are terminated?

And he replied:

“If  the time goes out they are terminated except the Sunnah of Fajr, it is atoned after the Fajr or after the sunrise. Because the Prophet peace is upon him and his companions made it up with Fajr when they slept during a journey, and because he- peace is upon him- commanded whomever missed the Sunnah of Fajr to make it up after the sunrise, and because he- peace is upon him- saw someone making it up after the Fajr and he did not forbid him. Likewise, the Sunnah before Thuhr can be atoned with the Sunnah after Thuhr because the Prophet peace is upon him made it up after the prayer when he missed it.

And success comes from Allaah”.
